She’s my twin, because I couldn’t have said it any better than this BEAUTIFUL & super intelligent lady <3
So that’s it for the metabolism series. Over the last week I’ve sprinkled little bits of knowledge on you from scientific studies about metabolism, fasting, fat loss, etc. A lot of it came from the IF (intermittent fasting) group, since they’ve done this research before. A lot of it came from my…
Ever hear your guy pals talking about bro-science? Things that sound like:
- No carbs after 7pm
- Meal Frequency Timing
- Ketogenic diets
- Etc.
Well….there’s a ton of ho-science (please don’t mind the crudeness) - no ho’s/just the information that’s ho-like, splashed over the fitblr kingdom,…
Woah, woah, woah. Let’s backup….
I firmly believe in IIFYM & that losing weight/gaining weight is calories in vs. calories out…
But how does that make it ok to bash people who choose to eliminate processed sugar, or eat clean? Yeah, I could eat a twinkie every day and still lose weight… but that isn’t healthy. Sure, it’s science. But it isn’t healthy.
I think the “clean eating” and the elimination of processes sugars, or too much starch… those are healthy goals.
This article is basically saying “Don’t go down that path. Sure it might get you there. It might not be a direct route to your destination. But it isn’t the way that I’m going.” I’m a firm believer in find what works for you to attain your own goals. Not everyone shares the same goals nor do they follow the same path to get there.
I think it is important to educate everyone on the difference between science, and application. No - eating clean does not inherently mean you are going to lose weight, but it is a healthy goal.
Lets all love each other, ok? No more bashing…
Hey :) Sorry, had to interject when this came up on my dash because a possible misinterpretation might have occurred. First things first, - this was written, definitely not a bashing on my part. And my article’s intention was definitely not to discourage people from going down any paths. What I was attempting to put across, instead, is like what you said - find out what works for you, and be more critical about what you read (main focus). Maintain a flexible, open mindset and create a plan that’s suited for your personal goals.
I definitely do NOT bash clean eaters. Bunny caught on as my nickname because I veg-load so crazily and I eat whole, natural, unprocessed foods 80% of the time. Not only macronutrient intake is important - but overall general health dictates a need to take care of your micronutrient intake and that’s gonna be accomplished from consuming the ‘good’ schtuffs.
The deal with clean eating is more so with the strong-headed advocates who basically put themselves on a pedestal and think that having a chocolate bar means you have no willpower, or that you’re screwing up your health for good (that is, unless you’re allergic to chocolate ;’c ). There’s this whole divide… and culture of extremism, so much so that it fuels what’s becoming so prevalent - orthorexia, or the obsession of healthy, clean-eating.
What’s so bad about clean eating? Nothing at all. Man I love my fruits, and a nice home cooked meal that’s made out of fresh herbs and ingredients. But I’m not going to kill myself over sugary treats every once in awhile if I stick to my macronutrient goals for whatever phase (cutting/bulking) that I’m in.
I’m ok if you have chocolates. I’m ok if you don’t. What I’m not ok with - is people demonizing others who do have the treats and are made to feel bad about them. 10 chocolate bars a day for life may not be a smart choice, but the occasional one (if you’re generally free from major health conditions, of course) won’t kill you, and no one deserves to go through the demonization of luxurious treats.
It was definitely an inaccurate interpretation of what I was trying to put across. And if anyone felt that I was trying to bash clean-eaters, I apologize here, sincerely, with my all, because that definitely missed the entire point :) I’m a mmmmaaajjooorrr fruit/veg lover as’well, and concur with what @her-bomb commented on :)

Dumbbell Exercises
Here’s a list of Dumbbell exercises that I have found most effective for me in terms of building strength and muscle size. My favorites that I use most frequently are the Goblet Squat, Single Leg Romanian Deadlift, Lunges, and 1-Arm Rows.
